GEORGIA Research Presented at RSCY2026 in Cyprus

The GEORGIA project was presented at the “RSCY2026 International Conference on Remote Sensing and Geo-Information of the Environment”, held from 27–29 April 2026 in Paphos, Cyprus. The conference brought together researchers, scientists, industry representatives, and policymakers working on remote sensing, geo-information technologies, environmental monitoring, and sustainable resource management. 

During the conference, our partners from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) presented a poster titled:

GEORGIA: Advancing Sustainable Irrigation and Soil Health through AI-Driven Water Management and Circular Resource Use

The presentation highlighted the project’s broader vision of combining digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and circular approaches to support more sustainable irrigation practices and healthier agricultural systems.

At the same conference, the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE) presented the poster: 

Soil Salt Dynamics Under Treated Wastewater and Conventional Water Irrigation in Mediterranean Citrus Orchards: A Continuous Sensor-Based Monitoring Approach

The work focused on monitoring soil salt dynamics under different irrigation approaches in Mediterranean citrus orchards, demonstrating how continuous sensor-based monitoring can support better understanding of soil and water interactions in agricultural environments.

The ECoE team was represented by Associate Researcher Eleni Neofytou, who presented the GEORGIA poster together with the team from the The Cyprus Phassouri Plantations (CPPC).

Participation in RSCY2026 provided an important opportunity for GEORGIA partners to exchange knowledge with researchers and stakeholders working in remote sensing, geo-information technologies, and sustainable agriculture, while also showcasing how the project contributes to smarter and more resilient water management practices.
