Wastewater and nutrients reuse

Treated wastewater is an often-overlooked resource that can play a key role in making agriculture more resilient to water scarcity and climate stress. By safely recovering water and nutrients from domestic or farm-related wastewater, targeted treatment and reuse systems enable local reuse of nutrient rich water irrigation water, reducing pressure on freshwater resources and external fertilizer inputs.

Within GEORGIA, innovative nature-based and circular wastewater solutions demonstrate how water and nutrients can be reused close to where they are generated. These approaches support circular water management, improve soil fertility, and strengthen drought resilience at farm level — while complying with water quality and safety requirements.
