The Synergy Days 2025 Conference, held on 21–22 October at De Doelen, Rotterdam, served as a vibrant meeting point for Europe’s leading innovators driving the digital transformation of the agri-food sector.
The GEORGIA project, represented by Synelixis Solutions S.A. (Project Coordinator) and reframe.food (Communications Partner), actively engaged throughout the two-day event, contributing to high-level discussions and interactive sessions aimed at aligning digital innovation with sustainability, resilience, and responsible resource management.
Let’s take a closer look at the highlights of GEORGIA’s dynamic participation!
Day 1: Diving into Ecosystem Development & Hands-On Collaboration
The conference opened with the plenary session “Digital Innovation Ecosystem Development in Agri-Food”, which addressed how to reduce fragmentation among European initiatives while strengthening coordination between EDIHs, SMEs, policy bodies, farmers, and clusters.
Building on this theme, GEORGIA co-organised two highly impactful workshops that attracted great interest and participation from diverse stakeholders:
🔹 “Scaling Innovation in Agriculture through Data, AI, and Federated Learning”
Co-organised with ScaleAgData and AGRARIAN, this workshop explored how data infrastructures and AI can accelerate innovation while ensuring data sovereignty. Participants were divided into smaller groups for an interactive exercise, tackling real-world challenges using solutions developed by the three projects. The outcome was a rich exchange of ideas, with each group presenting actionable insights that reflected collaboration, creativity, and collective problem-solving.
🔹 “Collaborative Pathways for Resilient & Sustainable Agri-Food Systems Across Regions”
In partnership with AfroGrow, this session fostered dialogue on cross-regional coordination, addressing local specificities while identifying shared strategies for climate adaptation, value-chain alignment, and policy coherence. Participants actively exchanged perspectives, identified synergies between the two projects, and discussed how collaboration can accelerate the transition to resilient and sustainable agri-food systems.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their enthusiasm, openness, and valuable contributions — your ideas and feedback will directly inform our next steps.
Between sessions, GEORGIA’s stand at the Synergy Market became a lively meeting point for professionals eager to explore how smart water management systems can be embedded within broader digital strategies for sustainable farming.
Day 2: Pitching Innovation & Building Synergies
Day 2 began with the plenary “Pooling Resources: Strengthening European Competitiveness on the Digital Transformation in Agri-Food”, which focused on aligning regional initiatives with EU strategic priorities, capacity building, and optimising data use for policy and innovation impact.
Shortly after, GEORGIA took the stage for its 3-minute pitch, delivered by Theodore Zahariadis, Project Coordinator (Synelixis Solutions S.A.). In just a few minutes, he captured the audience’s attention with GEORGIA’s vision: integrating water sensor networks, interoperable data frameworks, and stakeholder co-design to build climate-resilient agricultural systems.
Throughout the day, the GEORGIA team continued to engage in project pitches and thematic workshops addressing data governance, ethical AI, and platform development, strengthening collaborations with peer initiatives and exchanging valuable lessons learned. These interactions reinforced GEORGIA’s commitment to responsible, human-centred digital innovation and provided inspiration for the next phase of the project’s implementation.
Strengthening Europe’s Digital Agri-Food Ecosystem
GEORGIA’s participation in #SynergyDays2025 went far beyond attendance — it helped shape the dialogue, led key workshops, and brought forward tangible, data-driven solutions that align technology with sustainability.
Through its active involvement, GEORGIA strengthened ties with SmartAgriHubs, European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), and fellow Horizon Europe projects. These partnerships will pave the way for collaborative pilots, knowledge exchange, and scaling pathways that bring digital innovation closer to Europe’s farmers and agri-food SMEs.
A sincere thank you to SmartAgriHubs for curating an inspiring and well-organised event that seamlessly connected strategic vision with practical collaboration — a true example of how innovation ecosystems can thrive.
En Route to Smarter, More Resilient Agriculture
Leaving Rotterdam, GEORGIA’s consortium is more connected, inspired, and ready to act. The insights gained from Synergy Days 2025 will be translated into actionable pilots, advancing the project’s mission to deliver integrated water-data systems, cross-regional collaboration, and farmer-driven digital transformation.
Together, we are building a smarter, more sustainable agri-food future for Europe.
