An agritech company with a mission to optimise regenerative farming practices with AI digital technology.
AGROVAR is a pioneering agtech company specializing in the development of regenerative AI solutions for sustainable agriculture. Founded with a mission to revolutionize farming practices, AGROVAR leverages cutting-edge technology and scientific insights to empower farmers in adopting regenerative methods that enhance soil health, increase biodiversity, and sequester carbon. At the core of AGROVAR’s innovation is its advanced AI platform, designed to provide custom recommendations tailored to the unique needs of each farm. By analyzing comprehensive agronomical data—including soil samples, crop types, and local climate conditions—the platform enables farmers to transition seamlessly from conventional to regenerative agriculture. This approach maximizes productivity while minimizing environmental impact. A key initiative of AGROVAR is its partnership with UPL, where its AI capabilities are applied to a vast dataset of 4,200 soil samples across 55,000 hectares with 40 distinct soil types. This collaboration aims to unlock new opportunities in carbon credit programs, rewarding farmers for sustainable practices.
AGROVAR also plays an instrumental role in international development projects, such as an INNOWWIDE-supported venture in India. Here, the company provides AI-driven guidance to farmers seeking to embrace regenerative farming, addressing local challenges and promoting resilience in agriculture. By integrating technology, sustainability, and expertise, AGROVAR is shaping the future of farming, fostering a global transition toward a net-zero economy and a more resilient agricultural sector.
Activities in the project
AGROVAR plays a pivotal role in Project GEORGIA, spearheading the implementation of Pilot #2 to advance sustainable farming solutions tailored to the unique agricultural landscape of southern Bulgaria. This pilot is set on a 25-hectare irrigated field, part of a 300-hectare grain-focused farm near Dobrich, Haskovo. AGROVAR leads the design and execution of this pilot, integrating advanced soil and agronomic analysis to enhance soil health and resource efficiency. A comprehensive soil assessment will be conducted, covering 20 chemical, physical, biological, and microbiological parameters, including total carbon, pH, nutrient levels, microbial activity, and gene referencing. This data, coupled with local climate insights and sensor-based irrigation data, will inform precision-tailored cover crop mixes to boost soil structure, water retention, and long-term fertility. Beyond field-level optimization, AGROVAR applies a comparative analysis approach, leveraging data from additional managed fields. This cross-field assessment examines the impacts of diverse cover crop mixes and practices on yields, resource use, and soil sustainability. By aligning regenerative methods with real-world challenges, AGROVAR aims to reduce reliance on external inputs while maximizing productivity. Collaborating with partners such as SYN and AUA, who provide technical irrigation solutions, AGROVAR’s leadership in this pilot demonstrates its commitment to driving data-driven agricultural innovation, positioning the project as a model for scalable, sustainable farming practices in Bulgaria and beyond.
