Water scarcity and drought are no longer distant risks for European agriculture. They are a present-day reality, reshaping how farmers plan every season. That is precisely the challenge the GEORGIA project was set up to tackle, and it is also why GEORGIA has joined the AgroTech Hub Cluster, a new EU CAP Network initiative connecting Horizon Europe projects working on agriculture, climate innovation, digital technologies and sustainable land management.
The AgroTech Hub Cluster brings together a group of projects addressing closely related agricultural, climate and land-use challenges: AgRimate, AGRARIAN, ENFORCE, EARTHONE, LandShift, MONALISA, Nemesis, NOSTRADAMUS, OpenAgri, TERRASAFE, AfroGrow, Climate Farm Demo and GEORGIA. Its objective is to strengthen cooperation between EU-funded projects, so that knowledge, tools and methods for climate-resilient and sustainable land management reach practitioners faster and more effectively than any single project could achieve alone.
Since its first meeting on 30 October 2025, the cluster has moved quickly from introductions to action. Partner projects have already begun contributing to each other’s newsletters, cross-promoting results, and taking part in joint webinars. Two of these have already taken place: From Data to Decisions, Building Europe’s Next-Generation Agri-Data Ecosystem, held on 13 March, and Innovations for Resilient Land Systems, organised on 17 June 2026 for the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, a theme that sits squarely at the heart of GEORGIA’s own mission.
With more than 1,200 farmers directly involved in on-the-ground experimentation, and an ambition to reach over 89,000 farmers with its results, GEORGIA’s success depends on more than technical innovation alone; it also depends on visibility, uptake, and connection with the wider community of projects tackling related problems. That is exactly the gap the AgroTech Hub Cluster is designed to close.
Being part of a cluster like this, gives GEORGIA a more direct route to complementary EU-funded knowledge, tools and contacts, while also multiplying the reach of its own results through joint newsletters, podcasts, webinars and shared dissemination materials. The cluster’s early experience already points to a few success factors worth highlighting: shared thematic interests, regular meetings, genuine openness to collaboration, and a willingness among projects to actively support one another, rather than simply coexist under the same funding programme.
Looking ahead, the AgroTech Hub Cluster plans further webinars, shared dissemination materials, and continued cross-promotion through project websites, newsletters and social media. The AgroTech Hub Cluster is still young, and GEORGIA’s role within it will keep evolving as the pilots mature and concrete results start to emerge. By contributing its expertise in drought-resilient irrigation and AI-driven decision support, GEORGIA helps strengthen this growing community and supports one more step toward a more climate-resilient and water-secure European agriculture.
