Pilot #6

Интелигентно напояване в голям мащаб

Pilot #7 is based in Korinthos, located in the northeastern Peloponnese region of Greece, where an established Biosafety Level 3 (BSL 3) biological cleaning facility is set to revolutionize irrigation practices. This facility is equipped with advanced sewage treatment systems that enable the recycling of wastewater for agricultural use. With access to a 2 km irrigation network targeting over 500 hectares of diverse crops—including grapes, oranges, lemons, olives, vegetables, and avocados—this pilot aims to serve approximately 300 farmers while supporting a local population of over 200,000 residents.

Цели

Използване на рециклирана вода

Optimize the use of recycled water from the municipal treatment plant for irrigation across a wide range of crops, addressing both water scarcity and salinity issues.

Public Wastewater Sharing

Implement automated systems for efficient sharing of treated wastewater among farmers, enhancing irrigation efficiency across the region.

Technology in Action

SynField / SynWater Integration

Real-time data are collected on water quality and automate irrigation processes with advanced IoT systems.

Comprehensive Monitoring

Handheld instruments are utilized to assess plant health and soil conditions, ensuring that crops receive the right amount of water and nutrients.

Why GEORGIA Stands Out

GEORGIA is committed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices through innovative water management in Korinthos. Here’s how GEORGIA distinguishes itself:

Automated Recycled Water Management

Facilitate efficient sharing of recycled wastewater to optimize irrigation across multiple farms.

BSL 3 Compliance Testing

Validate the safety and efficiency of the BSL 3 facility in treating wastewater, ensuring reliable and safe agricultural applications.

Economic and Technical Analysis

Conduct thorough socio-technical studies to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of using BSL 3 recycling facilities for large-scale irrigation.
